Why Akshaya

Inexhaustible. A scarcity that never runs out: land that can no longer be created.
Never declining. A view nothing will ever close, a value built to last.
A place like this deserved a name as old as the land itself. So we went looking in Sanskrit, a language that has carried ideas across thousands of years, from the mountains to the sea.
We explored some twenty names. Four stood out: Varuna, god of sea and sky. Samudra, the ocean. Ananda, bliss. Meru, the sacred mountain. The most beautiful were already carried by other addresses in the region.
Then one word brought everything together. A singular meaning, a sound that travels, no namesake anywhere. And above all, the exact word for what this place is: land that can no longer be created, a view nothing will ever close, a legacy that endures through time. Like the hill that carries it, and the sea beside it.
This place could only carry one name.
A hill facing the first light
Lamai is one of the island's living hearts: the long bay, the beach, the energy below. Climb a few minutes above it and everything changes. The air cools, the sound falls away, and the sea opens wide.
This is where Akshaya stands: 7,400 square metres of hillside above Lamai Bay, held under full Chanote title, facing south-east. The sea first, as far as the eye can see. Then the sun, rising each morning in front of the residence. Next door to the Lamai viewpoint, a few steps from the island's most famous rocks, and only minutes from the beach below.
A day here begins with the light and ends in the calm of the heights.
